In a nutshell, it means: beginning with the date of the policy’s adoption (11 February 2015) all scholarly articles produced by the BU faculty are to be deposited into OpenBU and, by default, made publicly accessible. Authors may opt out of open access for a specific article by filling out a web-based waiver form; see below.


This differs from the previous opt-in open access resolution adopted by BU in 2008/2009, which had declared that Boston University supports open access and invited community members to deposit their work into OpenBU if they wished to do so.
